A Clare Independent TD says uncertainty over the future of Shannon Heritage sites has lingered for the duration of this government and is calling for clarity as a matter of urgency.

SIPTU is accusing the government of making ’empty promises’ following an omission in funding for the transfer of the management of Knappogue Castle, Cragaunowen and Bunratty Castle and Folk park to Clare County Council in Budget 2023.

Negotiations are understood to be ongoing, with the local authority adamant that a multi-million euro investment is needed to faciliate the transfer.
