Unemployment In Clare At Lowest Level Since May 2022

Unemployment in Clare is at its lowest level in over two years.

Just over 4,000 people were claiming some form of unemployment benefit here last month which was down more than 10% from the same month in 2023.

 

The Central Statistics Offices’s Live Register gives the monthly figure for the number of people registering for Jobseekers Benefit, Jobseekers Allowance or other various statutory entitlements at local offices of the Department of Social Protection.

In August, 166,100 people nationwide were recorded on the Live Register which was over 3% below the figure for July.

The total number of people in Clare claiming some form of unemployment benefit last month was 4,083.

This was 8% below the figure for the previous month and a whole 13% below the number of people signing on in August of 2023.

Of those claiming unemployment benefit in Clare last month, just 425 were aged 25 or under.

Male unemployment in the Banner county is down 14% in the space of a year while female unemployment has seen a drop of 12%.

With 4,083 on the Live Register in Clare last month, unemployment in the county is at its lowest level since May of 2022 when 3,899 were claiming unemployment benefit.
