Shannon Airport has been forced to close temporarily.
Unexpected heavy fog during a period of essential taxiway maintenance work led to the closure at 11o’clock last night.

As a result, flights in and out of Shannon Airport may be cancelled or delayed this morning.
The midwest facility is expected to open later, once fog clears.
The Shannon Airport Group is advising passengers to check with their airline for the most up to date flight information.
