A West Clare primary school has been highly commended in the fifth annual Our World Irish Aid Awards.
Pupils from 3rd to 6th Class at Knockerra National School were honoured for their project entitled Stop Hunger in a World of Plenty at a ceremony in Dublin castle last evening in which a Waterford national school emerged as overall winners.
The Minister for Overseas Aid Peter Power said the projects demonstrated the high level of commitment among pupils and teachers to working with developing countries and to making a difference in the fight against global poverty and hunger.
