A 96 year old West Clare woman has been announced among the winners of the Google Silver Surfer Awards.

Catherine Talty from Clounlaheen, Mullagh won the Golden IT Prize after judges were impressed by her use of a digital recorder in detailing her memories for the Cuimhneamh an Chlair Oral History project.
Catherine has contributed 83 files on folklore and tradition from the mid 1800s to the 1970s to the Clare Memories archive and was praised for her innovation and determination to master digital technology at a ceremony in Google Headquarters in Dublin.
