F1 in schools is a competition designed to introduce secondary school students to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Teams get to design, race, and construct their very own miniature Formula 1 car.

The cars are powered by gas canisters that slot into the back of the car, and the competition is judged across several categories, including racing, scrutineering, engineering, and enterprise.

On Monday’s Morning Focus, Alan Morrissey was joined by ‘The Smooth Operators’ team from Coláiste Muire, Niamh Queally, Amy Ryan, Lauren MacCarthy, Sofie Keane and Amy Hennessey

The students hope to represent Ireland at the F1 in Schools World Finals.
