The Irish language is now in the spotlight again after there was lots of criticism on social media about a debate about the Irish language on Virgin Media’s Six O’Clock Show during which presenters Fionnuala Jay and Brian Dowling discussed Irish with Síle Seoige and the broadcaster and former Fine Gael TD and Minister, Ivan Yates.
To discuss this further, Alan Morrissey was joined by MacDara Ó Conaola, an Irish Language facilitator, Dónal Ó Lionsigh, Irish language enthusiast and presenter of Clare FM’s Cúl Chaint, and Sean Martyn from Cree, who is currently studying to be an Irish teacher.
