Champions Miltown Continue Push For Successive Clare SFC Titles

Defending champions St Josephs Miltown have booked their spot in the quarter finals of the 2016 Clare Senior Football Championship.

County star Eoin Cleary struck 2-7 over the course of the game to help his side to a 5-15 to 1-11 win over Cooraclare, with Brian Curtin grabbing two goals and Gearoid Curtin also finding the net.

Manager Michael Neylon was pleased with the win.

Cratloe are also back in the last eight but only after surviving a huge scare against Lissycasey.

The game was level at 0-9 each after the end of normal time, but goals from David Collins and Cathal McInerney saw the 2014 champions take a 2-14 to 0-14 win.

Eire Og are facing another relegation battle after suffering their second loss of the campaign.

The Townies lost to O'Currys after extra time, going down by 3-15 to 1-20.

Kilrush will also be fighting for their senior status after losing out to Ennistymon by 3-16 to 2-10.

There are two more quarter final places up for grabs this afternoon, while two more teams will exit the race for Jack Daly.

The final game this evening sees 2012 champions Kilmurry Ibrickane take on last years beaten semi finalists St Breckans with a place in the last eight at stake.
