Clare Hurlers and footballers get ready for big weekend as Camogie side get ready for third game of new season

The Clare senior football and hurling sides are both in the final stages of their  preparations for their toughest challenges in the national league so far this weekend.

The footballers take on London in Ruislip hoping to maintain their 100% start to the season while the hurlers face the toughest test of their campaign so far when they face Wexford in Cusack park.

The match on Sunday will be the last without the Kib contingent and Clare can go clear at the top of Div 4  depending on other results over the weekend.

Meanhile Ger O Loughlion faces an axious wait to see if the U21 members of his panel make it through the opening round of the county championship this weekend.

There are 4 games down for decison with a number of senior panellists set to be involved with their clubs on Saturday including John Conlon Nicky O Connell and Sean Collins

Collins suffered no ill efects of his involvement in Clare’s defeat to Limerick last evening  while a number of his U21 colleagues will be involved in club action this Saturday which may hamper their inclusion for Sunday’s game with Wexford.

And in a change of time for the U21 hurling championship game.

Broadford-O’C. Mills v Clarecastle which  due to take place at 4-30 has been fixed for the earleir time of 2-30 in Newmarket.

Meanwhile the GAA have announced a drop of 1.2 million euro in revenue gained from gate receipts for the All Ireland Hurling championship last year…

Football revenues declined by 400 hundred thousand euro, although attendances at the football championship games did rise.

Speaking today, Association President Christy Cooney said the figures for the football championship proved the current system of the All Ireland qualifiers is adequate…

Elsewhere and its set to be a big weekend for the county camogie side as their continue the search for their first win of the new season when they take on Wexford on Sunday at 12-30.

The Clare ladies were heavily beaten by Galway in their opener but performed much better  in their narrow defeat to Dublin last weekend.

Manager Patsy Fahy hopes Sunday can be another stepping stone for his young side.
