All Ireland Senior Camogie Championship 2023 Round 1: Clare 1-19 – Down 2-11

Clare are off to a winning start in the 2023 All-Ireland Camogie Championship following a resilient opening round victory over Down on away soil.

Lorna McNamara led the charge for the Banner , showing unerring accuracy from placed balls throughout, while a trademark delivery into the square from the Feakle woman allowed Áine O’Loughlin to bury the ball to the back of the net ,raising Clare’s only green flag of the contest.

The impact of the bench played a key role in solidifying Clare’s lead until the final whistle with Eimear Kelly splitting the posts , whilst Amy Keating & Alannah Ryan dominated possession.

As it finished in Liatroim Fontenoy’s GAA grounds on a full time score of Clare 1-19 to Down 2-11.

John Carmody’s charges will hope to maintain their winning form when Clare take on Galway in Cusack Park on the 17th of June.
