Clare Under 21’s dethroned by Tipperary

Clare have relinquished their Munster and All Ireland U21 hurling titles after defeat to Tipperary last evening in a thrilling Munster final by 1-22 to 1-17.
 
Clare trailed at half time by 1-12 to 1-9-Conor McGrath goaling in the opening minutes for the Banner while Michael Heffernan raised Tipperary’s green flag in the 26th minute.
 
Tipperary dominated in the middle third throughout  and Clare could not find a way back with Brian O’ Meara and John O Dwyer supreme for the Premier County.
 
Clare manager John Minogue felt missed chances were crucial to his sides defeat but ultimately the better side won.

The loss was Clare’s second in three years and came in the county’s third Munster final appearance in row and while John Minogue felt the defeat was a bitter disappointment, overall he believes the U21 experience had been positive for both him and his management team:
