Clonlara have opened their 2009 championship account with a win over Tulla this evening on a scoreline of 1-11 to 12-8.
A goal from Diarmuid Conway in the first half set the county champions on their way to victory.
Elsewhere Crusheen beat Corofin by 2-7 to 1-5 in a game played in very bad conditions.

The win for Crusheen was marred however by a serious injury to clare county star Gerry O Grady who apperared to have broken a bone in his ankle.
Elsewhere Scariff overcame O Callaghans Mills by 3-14 to 1-12 while St. Joseph’s beat Ballyea 2-11to 1-9.
