Clare senior football boss Colm Collins says it was crucial the Banner beat Fermanagh to ensure their Division Three status for 2016.

The 1-14 to 2-8 win saw Collins side steer clear of relegation on the final day of League action, with thoughts now turning to their championship opener against Limerick on May 23rd.

The Northern side hit 1-5 unanswered in the closing stages to ensure a nervy finish, but Collins says it was vital they stood firm.

Elsewhere in Division Three, Limerick relegated Louth, beating them by 2-13 to 2-11.

Wexford also drop down despite beating Tipperary 2-15 to 2-12, while Sligo ensured their survival after beating Armagh 1-19 to 1-8.

Armagh and Fermanagh will contest the Division Three Final, with both also being promoted.
