Ennisman Rory McEvoy has had his first taste of action at the European Games in Azerbaijan.

The Roslevan teenager has finished tenth in his heat, and 33rd overall, in the 100m Backstroke event this morning.

He'll be in action in three more events late this week, and is in the pool again on Thursday morning.

Earlier, in the pool, Mona McSharry reached the semi-finals of the women’s 50-metre breaststroke while Emma Reid made the semis of the women’s 200-metre butterfly.

Meanwhile, in boxing, Sean McComb, Dean Walsh and Adam Nolan are all due back into the ring today, knowing that wins will guarantee them at least bronze medals.
