Underage county star Conor Fennell finished with 0-7 of his sides tally, with 0-6 of those coming in the second period of the contest.

Gearoid O’Brien found the net for the Shams either side of half-time, while Stephen Ryan’s goal from a long range free midway through the second period was the score that put the game beyond reach of the Shannon men.

Darragh Leahy’s early goal along with a green flag for Darragh Lohan saw Wolfe Tones lead by 2-3 to 1-3 at half-time.

Kilrush stormed into the game in the second half, and led by champion dancer Fennell up front, they got the crucial scores to close the game out.

Wolfe Tones did have a late consolation goal, but lost Darragh Leahy to a red card in the closing stages.
