After a strong second half showing from Kilkenny, the banner found themselves trailing by four points with five minutes to play but a Paul Rodgers score capped a terrific Clare comeback to send the game to extra time.

Clare were reduced to 14 men in the additional period and The Cats took full advantage to book their spot in the final against Tipperary, winning by 3 points on a score of 2-23 to 2-20.
