For Feakle, Adam Hogan and Ronan O’Connor were dominant in the half-back line while Shane McGrath was lively contributing 0-07 in the opening period, while Oisín Donnellan fired over twice.

At half-time Kilmaley led by 0-13 to 0-12.

It was more of the same in the second period, as both sides continued to trade blow for blow in a rip-roaring contest, with Feakle hitting a purple patch shortly after the restart to lead 0-18 to 0-15 by the fortieth minute.

After this though, Feakle would hit a barren spell going seventeen minutes without a score, while James McGuire, Michael O’Malley and Colm Killeen all fired over for Kilmaley in between.

A late Brian O’Loughlin intervention also proved crucial, making a pointblank save to deny Feakle’s Eoin McGann.

For a finish Kilmaley prevailed by the minimum on a final scoreline of 0-22 to 0-21.
