Paul McGinley will captain Europe in the 2014 Ryder Cup, the first time an Irishman has been appointed to the role.
The 46-year-old Dubliner will take charge of the side as they attempt to defend the trophy at Gleneagles in 2014.
Chairman of the European Tour players committee, Thomas Bjorn has revealed that McGinley was the unanimous choice at today’s meeting in Abu Dhabi and that he was the overwhelming choice of the players on the Tour.
