Ronan O’Gara will miss Munster’s make-or-break Heineken Cup battle with Racing Metro this Sunday.
The veteran out-half has been handed a one-week suspension by tournament organisers, the ERC, for kicking-out at Edinburgh’s Sean Cox during last Sunday’s match at Murrayfield.
O’Gara was facing a minimum four-week ban if found guilty, but the independent panel agreed to reduce that penalty because of his excellent disciplinary record.
It means that the 34-year-old will be free to play in all of Ireland’s Six Nations campaign, but Ian Keatley is now expect to start for Munster this weekend.
