Scariff-Ogonelloe are back to back Clare Camogie Senior Champions after a fluent team performance in Cusack Park saw Alphie Rodger’s side claim the club’s third ever McMahon Cup.

Playing with the aid of the conditions in the first half, the champions hit the ground running and led by 0-03 to 0-00 inside the opening five minutes.

A Róisín Begley goal for Truagh-Clonlara soon followed and the sides were levelled.

The county finalists of 2021 and 2022 then continued to trade scores and were deadlocked for the second and final occasion on eleven minutes at 0-05 to 1-02.

From this juncture the champions would truly take over, tagging on another eight points over the remainder of the half including three from full-forward Aoife Power while keeping their opponents scoreless to lead by 0-13 to 1-02 at the break.

The old expression ‘A good start is half the work’ will never have rang as true for Scariff- Ogonnelloe on the restart who despite only adding a solitary Mairéad Scanlon free to their tally on thirty-eight minutes, had built up enough of an advantage to see out the tie.

However it was not out without the exceptional defending of captain Amy Barrett who twice foiled Truagh-Clonlara’s clear cut goal scoring opportunities.

The Truagh-Clonalra goal did eventually come on forty-one minutes from Ellen Horgan, nevertheless the tireless efforts of the Scariff-Ogonelloe defence held their opponents to just two further scores in the second half as points from Eimear Kelly and Laura Foley cut the gap back to three and hence as close as the challengers would come.

Scariff-Ogonnelloe can now focus their attentions on defending their Munster Club title, a competition they have won on every occasion they have progressed from the County championships.

As it finished in Cusack Park, Scariff-Ogonnelloe 0-14 to Truagh-Clonlara 2-05
